That might be a car I need to have a some point!

if Im honest it is a bit "boaty". Definitely a long distance motorway cruiser. That's when it was at it's best. Even the M5 is much more nimble on a B road.

I know these cars are a bit Marmite to some... But here is mine after it was detaled/protected.. and before the awful Bridgestone tyres were consigned to the recycling centre...

I really the new 1 and 2 series. They do seem to get a bit of flack but I think the look really good, especially in the right trim.

Looks cracking. The M135i was my second choice after the Cayman. I was really struggling with colours though, and think it'd of had to of been Black Sapphire for us. My Auntie has the exact same car as yours so couldn't of had the same! I also prefer the 19" wheels.

What tyres did you go for? I'm swapping my Pirellis out for Pilot Sport 4S's next week.

Best tyres on the market by far the 4S. I detest Pirellis.

I went for the Michelin PS4... a proper balanced sporty tyre for the car, I'd say.... I went for the 4 as they don't do 4S in a BMW approved fitment for the 18"... I could have at a Pilot Sport, but that is more dry focussed and I felt the PS4 was a better all rounder for me...

As they are transitioning to PS5's, will be interesting to see what is available when these wear out...

The tyres, to my thinking, are everything you would expect of a Michelin Sport tyre with good wet behaviour and a good combo of compliance and grip in the dry...

I wrote about them in an old BimmerP thread if you want to read more of my thoughts...

I had the Pirelli P Zeros (whatever version they were) on the Golf and they were actually not so bad... They are an option in size for the M135... I think they are a tyre that suit some cars better than others...

ps - in all honesty, apart from looks, possibly, I think the 18" wheels/tyres suit the car better... I test drove a car on 19" and it felt perhaps a little too much on those... I think you need adaptive if you go for 19's... I don't have adaptive... It just is what it is...

pps - colour is a point on all BMW's now... Ideally, if I could afford one, I would have had an individual colour... but you get little value out of that in a few years time... so it is just a luxury... fortunately, I liked both the blue I got and Storm Bay, so it was just a choice, and I thought the blue suited the car's nature better... storm bay is a little more for under the radar...

For me, it is just an ideal combination... I've done the whole sports car and performance car thing... and also a couple of fairly luxury saloons/sedans... but I don't need anything bigger than the hatch (with its practicality) and the 300hp is plenty more than you will ever need on the road... I decided to go for a big spec, so I have lost of the goodies...

I think the car gets a bit too much stick sometimes for being a bit too capable and "remote", but I enjoy driving it and, more importantly, it gets me around comfortably and safely in fair luxury on the days I just want it to do that... It is way better in that respect to my previous GTI which, to be honest, I felt cost a lot of money for what it actually was... Sounds fussy, but, the standard seats on the Golf are only 3-way adjustable... and I never felt I had a seating position I was happy with, just kept fiddling... The BMW... comes with way more seat adjustment as standard... and I set it up in the first week or so, and it has stayed precisely like that since...

Sorry I actually meant that the 18"s on your car were my favourite, the 19"s were a bit busy for me plus throw in the worse ride quality. I thought they were actually 19"s, and the upgrade was the 20"s. I've gotten so used to wheels being massive these days, 18" seems small.

Yes Tanzanite has always been my favourite, I also saw a Ruby Black X6 about 10 years ago that was lovely. I think BMW's colour offering in the M Sport models is very poor. They don't even offer a silver anymore, although they've just brought in that new Skyscraper Grey. that I believe is a bit more silver than grey.

Our Porsche has the P Zeros, and they've been subjected to the common cracking which I'm not overly happy about. They're shocking at anything less than 10oc, I know they are a summer tyre really but they're really poor. I also find on poor road surfaces they either seem to float or tram line. Everyone in the owners club say that the PS4s are the ones to go for, so we'll see. You also get the juddering at low speeds when turning, however with the PS4s it's meant to resolve that issue.

I've had them previous on BMW's and Mini, and my works van. Not really by choice, other than that's what they came with. But I've found probably in the last 4/5 years the quality has really dropped off, the ones on the Mini were shocking too plus they were Run Flats. I was going to go PS4 next on the Mini before it was written off.

Only ever heard good things about the Pilot Sports, so will be interesting to see what difference they make.

Oh, man, I think we all lose track of what the standard and option specifications are these days…

As for the wheels, whilst I think the 19” give the appearance of the arches being filled out, the actual rolling circumference is very similar and the arch gaps virtually the same… I don’t really like either of the 19”s to be honest, and, the kicker for me, is that if you have them then you also have to have the pack that includes the privacy glass, which I loathe… it has a big -ve effect on visual flow along the side of the car… and I don’t know why BMW UK insist you have to have it (BMW DE do not insist)…

With the Michelin tyres, the 18" look much more square and seem to look "better" than on the Bridgestone tyres you see in that shot...

I recon the sweet spot for the 1 series would be an 18.5" wheel...:LOL:

My 330d was Tanzanite… lovely when clean but I do not clean my cars that often now (used to)… and showed every single imperfection, swirl, etc… I once carefully cleaned off some seagull/pigeon bombs and created such a mess (and I was v careful but so much grit in the goo) that would require a machine polish to remove… My 340i was silver.. In fact, the BMW silver is great… a cool grey/silver… very smart…

For me, the key is a nice colour that is not too dark...

Having said that, I always wanted an E30 M3 in Macau Blue (mine was Diamond Black, back in the day)... So, if I win the lottery, I am minded to buy a new 135 in Macau Blue...

My Boxster had Pirelli and I do not recall them being bad... But then it was also 2004, and things have changed a lot since... but the Cayman and GT3 had Michelin (well, the GT3 had Pirelli winter tyres which were awesome)… The GT3 was on cup tyres which were fun... After the first tyres wore ou, my Cayman was run on whatever version of PS Michelin had then and I recall them being a nice tyre compared to what was on originally (the make of which I cannot recall)

The BMW 3’s had the dreaded Bridgestone RFT’s which were not great…. and I never wore any out so all got sold with the delivery tyres...!!!!

I drove the M135 to Glasgow the other month in the snow storm, on the PS4 tyres, and I must admit I was impressed that they were not garbage.. OK, not their preferred conditions, but they did not fall off a cliff and I felt they were OK with out being a risk...
