I know you don’t do a lot of miles in it Boba but what sort of running costs are you talking for that bad boy? What’s insurance like, servicing etc?

I actually do quite a bit more than the average Ferrari owner, mostly depends on the weather how much I get out in it!

Its obviously £600 tax, its £420 a year insurance, I have just had it serviced and it was £490 (specialist) those costs are the pretty much the same as many other cars and they have been more reliable than my 911 Turbo's (with the exception of the 996 Turbo, but that was very low mileage for a Porsche)

Build quality is not that of a top German car and things like switch gear feels flaky but it carries on working! Its just when they go wrong or need parts, they are eye watering! most parts are main dealer only, the Ferrari tax is taking the piss and there is hardly any in breakers yards at all!

True story, I had one of the 4 Lambda sensor go, it just put an engine light on, no harm car carried on normally. The sensor was £390+VAT! I asked the main dealer for a part number, which he reluctantly gave, and I crossed referenced it on line, and it was the exact same sensor from a Fiat Tipo for £85. Same size same length, same part numbers on the sensor. The main dealer did say his comes in a nice Ferrari box though!

Its worth it though, nothing I have owned has come close to the drive, the noise, how it makes you feel and the theatre of the thing! Gives you Goosebumps !!

Thats mental! I noticed servicing costs at the main dealer for my Maserati were ridiculous when I had it. It was just a shit-box diesel but they were still charging Maserati rates!

Insurance is surprisingly cheap.

I think the wheels look a little lost in the pictures and it may be because of the colour. Your original wheels look really good and they are in silver so provide something to draw your eye - also a chunkier design compared to your new ones. Change the colour to silver and I think they will be spot on.

I think its the pictures where black and grey's don't photo well, in the metal they look bigger and quite awesome!

These are two of the closest style pictures I have, showing both wheels! I think the new wheels have grown on me!!

With a bit of spirited driving I have scraped the front bumper a few times, and its never nice when you do it. I bought these skid plates for the F430 from the states, but although they are supposed to be hidden I thought I would turn them into a little splitter!!

Get rid of the chrome, nice colour coded covers!

The skid plates work as they pick out the front vents too. God I love this car!

Thanks for the kind comment, sadly it now looks like this again (see other pothole post

)

I have removed them all for now, until I get the wheel and tyre sorted, but I am a little worried this will not be the only time I have this issue running 30 profile tyres, I mean I have done probably 60 miles and a pothole has dinged and alloy and ruined a brand new tyre. Is it just bad luck or a shape of things to come ????

You like the silver OEM alloys ?

No, the splitter on the front. Subtle to some but impactful to those with OCD! They’re superb. Small addition that makes a big difference.

As for the wheels… the gunmetal ones looks awesome. If it were my car I’d go for black. And I have to be honest I’m really not into black wheels. I’m pretty much decided that I’m going to get the black ones on my TTS done in silver. BUT I am going to darken the wheels on my M5. I just think black wheels on the Ferrari would look amazing.

I’m not into classic looks. I get that some folks want to keep a classic car “classic” but I personally don’t view your Fezza as a classic car, it’s far too current for that in my eyes. The gunmetal wheels look great. Seriously awesome, but if it were me, I’d have them black.

A car like my m5 is a bit too ordinary looking for what it is, so needs wheels that stand out. Especially with it being black but a bright red Ferrari can pretty much get away with anything and black wheels with the yellow Ferrari badge would look fucking awesome. Gunmetal is a good halfway house though and looks awesome from the photos.

Its one of the those cars that’s unaffected by personal preference. Doesn’t matter what direction you go with it, it’s still going to look fecking amazing and you’re very much on the same page as me, mods are good but knowing when to stop is key.

I’m on the TT Facebook group and, fuck me, there’s some amount of folk out there that really don’t know when to stop!

Subtle OEM+ mods like the wee splitters are perfect, but I’m looking forward to when you give in and get the wheels in black 😉😁

I agree, when I put the silver wheels back my wife went, yuk, they make the car look old, I asked the wheels? And she said the colour, nothing wrong with the wheels.

I am not sure I am going to run the 458 wheels again, as I think I will have this problem again with a 30 profile tyre, I do not think this is a one off, it’s been on the car for no more than 25 miles, and I was lucky this time that it happened close to home! Gutted as I really like them, but I don’t want this again!

So that now leaves a 458 wheel to be refurbished, but I might go OEM with the set because I am going to sell them, and the original wheels going a different colour, so back to the studio!
