Hi mate, I am glad I bought this front grill now, looks really nice and its great to know its a perfect fit! Mine should arrive tomorrow!

I had forgot to buy the crash bar cover, do you think its essential, I seem to recall you saying you will see the parking sensors cables or something?

Without the crash bar cover you’ll see the polystyrene insert that holds the washer tube in place (this runs right across the middle from one side to another) and the cabling for the middle parking sensors so it’s an essential for me. It’s only £50 straight from the dealer so worth getting.

Great job - do you mind me asking where you got the grill from please.

Also the two side vents are they painted or wrapped ? Mine have silver in them which I hate

I removed and wrapped the chrome trims in gloss black and gave the grills a spray with gloss black Plastikote.

How do those silver bits come off stone, just pull out?

From memory each strip is made up of two chrome inserts clipped in and a rubber strip in the middle. The clips are really small and twist behind so you need to be delicate to avoid snapping them.

Don't want to pee on your bonfire and hopefully you'll have a better experience than I did.

First set he sent me were too big then he agreed to send me the correct set, but I had to chase him for ages. Then the next set didn't match up properly either. He was marketing these as lettering to go over the existing OEM Quattro lettering. His attitude was just "you'll always see an edge" but you can see below that the radius of the curves and widths are totally different. Hopefully you'll have a better experience but it put me right off. Especially with the cost of them as well.

I originally ordered in February and eventually got the right set in April after lots of chasing and then ended up sending them back.

The grill you've ordered does come with grey letters by the way (that you could paint if you wanted).

Going to paint them myself.

I should clarify that this was about 3 years ago for a B9 RS5 and he seems to be more gears up for TTRS/RS3s.

There’s another guy who does vinyl stickers for them. Uk based (the guy above is in Germany).

So after the last 2 days I have done my grill, I will add that I experienced some unexpected teething problems! I will add this to the bottom of this post.

Its done along with painting the Grill trims gloss black!

Now this is a job I would not call easy, this TTRS grill does not plug and play with a TTS no matter how many times you look at it offer it up, and you have to remove the bottom grill on the TTS bumper (which is an absolute bitch to get out because it has hidden very very tough clips) and then you basically chop it in half so you free up the top recess in the bumper for the TTRS version to fit!

Some other things to consider. Paint the crash bar black even if you get the OEM Crash bar cover, it will show otherwise.
The Standard front Parking sensors are grey in the TTS grill so they will need to be painted Gloss Black
There is an OEM bar that fits back on the top of the grill that hold some electrics, you need to cut this down flush or you will see it through the grill.
Any wires and electrics that are not routed with care will be seen through the front grill.

This is not a novice job, I nearly smashed the grill up a few times trying to get it to fit, but I persevered but now have smashed up fingers, nails and back as a result.

Looking great mate.

Yeah I suppose it was worth all the hassle. Does look nice I had the right hump yesterday, took my whole weekend up!

You must look at it and think it looks just like yours before the TTRS wheels !

On a side note, does your passenger wiper sit where mine does or further down?

Cars are looking great, i will stick with the grill i have on now as i kind of like that look. Dropped the car off this morning at Protek, so paint will be done and collected back once finished. New audi TTS auto spoiler cover being fitted as the original has had 2 different wings on it and i want to replace it while the car is with them.

The lacquer was lifting in places and it had quite a lot of stone chips from the various events it has done this year. I was never really happy with the job on the FL rear bumper so wanted that corrected at the same time. Out of interest it has done over 9000 miles since April, love it so it deserves some pre winter TLC.
