MOT History
Next Due in August this year.
Some of the MOT dates (no advisories ever) reflect change of ownership and supplying dealers having a policy of putting a fresh MOT on the car as part of the sale.

Ownership History
BMW UK was the first owner of this car. It spent the first 12 months of its life as the long-term review car for Auto Express. It was then purchased by a chap called Andy in the South East from Park Lane BMW. He owned it for about a year before trading it in for a Land Rover. It then went back into the BMW main dealer network. After that it was bought buy a guy called Fraser who purchased it as a BMW Approved Used Car as a stop-gap car whilst waiting on a Porsche factory order arriving and he sold it to James Glen Car Sales who then sold it to me in September 2021. I've had extensive dialogue with both prior owners.

My Ownership
I bought the car with 41,000 miles on it and am the 4th owner. I traded in an M4 Convertible, having scratched the convertible itch and wanted something more practical that I could ferry my two kids around in.

All of the upgrades with the exception of the front splitters, and rear spoiler and diffuser and MSS Spring kit were carried out during my ownership.
The car has had no expense spared on it and I generally tastefully tweak and upgrade every car I own before I get bored, buy something else and do the same again (I generally keep my cars for around 2 years). That’s not the case here. This, quite frankly has been the best car I’ve ever-owned. I love it that much and the reason that I’ve spent so much money on it is that I really though that this would be a long term keeper. After only a year and a half, I feel as if I’ve barely scratched the surface of what this machine can do and I feel pretty torn about letting it go.

The reason for the sale is that I had the opportunity of getting a Taycan through work, which will create a number of financial benefits and so the M5 has to go. I’d love to keep it alongside but I already have another project-car and my wife has a car as well, so that’s a non-starter.The car currently has an HP agreement against it with my bank. This will be settled instantly on the day of the sale. The car comes with two keys (Display Key & Standard) logbook etc. Private Plate not included.

I saw that and reported it but no doubt nothing will happen. What’s in it for the guy that’s what I want to know. Is he planning on scamming folk out of deposits?

yep, scammer makes it attractive to a poor sod (or dummy you decide) said poor sod thinks he is getting an M5 for silly money, panics, and irrationally puts a deposit down.

seller goes ghost, and collects the next deposit, It could be happening as we speak

what a car!

is the Tacyan coming?

Not till March mate. I’m just getting the ball rolling on selling the M5 now as I know it’s a difficult car to shift on the private market and it might take a wee while.

Amazing number of chancers on Autotrader. Asking if I’m interested in swaps with cash on top. Folk just asking me to lower the price without justifying why I should!

It seems a lot of folk look at a car that’s just out of their reach and phone up to see if the seller will take 5 grand less.

I genuinely think its well worth what your asking, its certainly not your out of the box M5.

Anyway, whats the lowest you'd take for cash Bruv?

Via Autotrader. A lot of chancers. A LOT but found a genuine buyer. Deal won’t conclude for a couple of weeks so you never know but everything feels right with this particular chap so fingers crossed.

Thanks mate and yes, remains a decent platform, but with specific Facebook groups and the like, wondered how you got on.

Still can't decide if I'm keeping or not

Facebook was a waste of time. Lots of admirers on groups but most people in the groups already have one, or like it but aren't in the market. FB Marketplace is a no-mans land of messages that range from "Best Price?" to "Would you swap for a 2015 Seat Cupra plus cash your way" and "It's high mileage/wrong colour/wrong tyres - You wont sell it. Lets do a deal".

Next time I wont even bother on the groups. Autotrader seems the best place as folk are already hunting for that particular car. Pricing is all over the place and I've got M5 owners telling me I'm selling too cheap but the fact is, there are many delusional private sellers out there that think they can sell privately for the same price that a dealer is charging. Dealer offers a warranty, trade-in, finance and buyer protection so why would you buy from a private seller with none of that?

I did toy with selling the M-Performance bits separately and I would have done that if I ended up selling to the trade.
