INTRO
We've modded this thread a bit since it was first started to reflect that myself, @Denso & @boba fett have all ended up buying TTS's. So this build thread will be mix of what we've gotten up to with our three cars.

I kicked the thread off originally so the first few posts and intro are mine, followed by @Denso's merged thread and then @boba fett joining the party.

All three cars are pre-facelift Audi TTSs. Boba and mines are both Vegas Yellow and Denso's is (Ibis I think) white.

ENJOY!

Time to start a new build thread!

I’ve been looking for a one of these for a couple of months and having enquired or been to see quite a few that were rubbish, I nearly didn’t bother going to see this particular car, but I’m glad I did.

My budget allowed for a 15/16 plate car and there’s a lot of rough ones about at that age. Many of them have been on the market for a while. This car went up for sale on the Friday and bought it on the Saturday.

It’s a three owner-car. The first owned it from new for about 6 years. Owner number 2 had it for 8 months. Owner number 3, bought it, spent a fortune having the wheels powder-coated in black, various bits wrapped and the callipers done in yellow (which is a real shame as it’s not a good match and the car originally came with red callipers from factory). Having done all that, he only kept the car for two months and then traded it in for a Volvo V60! I’m guessing a change of circumstances. Maybe the Mrs got pregnant?

The car has a full Audi main dealer service history apart from the last service which was carried out by the supplying dealer to the previous owner in January.

Overall, the paint condition is excellent but it needs machine polished. The exhaust tips are shot as well. I’ll replace those with fresh ones. I counted only a handful of stone chips on the paint but lots of swirls in the sunshine today.

The interior is more of the same, very little in way of any marks and even the drivers bolster is in good condition. Steering wheel is a bit shiney, as is the drivers seat but a good steam clean sorted that out as best it could.

I’m terms of options, the car has the upgraded Aircon controls with the displays on the vents, Bang & Olufsen sound, Nav and Mag ride.

Plans include:
Re-painting the callipers a contrasting colour.
Gloss black splitter kit
Steering wheel re-trim
Reversing camera retrofit
RS style front grill.
Carplay activation.
New exhaust tips.

Today I washed it, got rid of the black wrap on the wing mirrors and the wrapped rear Audi rings (replaced for genuine black ones). I also got rid of the smoked film on the rear lights as blurred them a bit and hid the 3D effect.

I also replaced the silver rear TTS badge for a black one to match the front and black rings and steam cleaned the leather inside.

I’ll keep the black wheels for the time being but I think silver works better with the yellow paint and ties in with the silver mirror caps so I may take them back to their original silver finish at some point.

Love this last photo showing the contrast between the new motor and the black and grey lumps on the drive.

Looks good! Hard to believe these are 7 years old now, only seems like 5 minutes since they were new.

For the CarPlay and Rear camera theres a guy that specialises in them near us, maybe a bit far for you but AutoMobili UK at Blackburn. http://www.automobiliuk.com/ Don't think his website is working, but he posts a lot on instagram.

Really enjoyed it today but haven’t had a chance to put it throw it’s paces yet. It doesn’t have the instant, bury your head into the back of the seat thump that the M5 does. Very nimble and grip seems to be relentless. Reminds me of my RS5 but slower.

1 owner, 13000 miles, December 2017 car with full dealer service history. I wanted the mixed alcantara leather interior and this one has it, that is probably why I ended up with this one.

Original spec of the car as seen in the picture below.

Mods have already started, with honey comb grill installed, new 20” wheels bought but waiting on tyres arriving to fit. Apple car play installed later today and also latest gearbox map being coded in too. Original Audi black ring badges front and rear, brake calipers painted.

Currently doing a bit of a driving tour down south will post pictures, when its clean and i get the time to do them justice.

Very nice. Let me now if you want to merge into one build thread as per my message on mine.
Those wheels are lovely. What colour are you doing the callipers? That’s also on my list and where did you get the RS grill from? Are you changing the grey bottom front and rear splitters of the side intake vents on the front?

These are a few quick pictures from today, very much a work in progress. Proper pictures will be taken once completed. CT Carbon for the front grill and wing.

Carplay and Google maps added remotely by Simon at VAG Coding Yorkshire & Wales:

In the process he updated the Audi MMI/Virtual Cockpit to the latest version which is identical to the RS5 I had. Really satisfying that the tech on 7 year old car feels bang up to date.

With no central screen on the TT, it’s not the greatest implementation of Carplay but it works and I means I had tell Siri what tracks to play etc.

I then dug out my old OBDeleven dongle and added Mirror dip on reverse, Rear parking sensor display (Audi only give you this is order front sensors from factory), High Beam assist and the G Meter display (I’m not sure if this works on the S models. Will need to test it).

This was active on mine already. what is ODB eleven?
My next big hunt is audio upgrade, I couldn’t find the right car at the right price that had B&O. I have seen full B&O systems available online but coding it in seems to be the real problem.

There’s a number of coding platforms available on VAG cars. The best and most expansive is VCDS. The cheapest is OBDeleven. It’s a bit like BimmerCode for BMWs. It’s an OBD Bluetooth dongle with a corresponding Android app (or iPhone if you buy OBDeleven pro).

it lets you scan fault codes, make tweaks and code features. So far I’ve set up mirror dip on reverse, parking sensor display, speed sign recognition, ability to lock the car with the key with the engine running etc.

As for B&O it’s alright. Much better than the version that’s was in my RS5 (with the rattley subwoofer on the rear shelf) but it’s not a patch on the Harmon Kardon in the M4 or the B&W int the M5. I’d suggest that you’d be better off with an aftermarket solution there’s room for an amp under the boot floor as well. You’ll probably get a better system for less money.

I was going to give Craig a shout at Skidz and see what we can come up with 👍

The G-Meter is a waste of time on the TTS. It displays but as I suspected, it doesn't actually work. Must be require hardware that's only present on the RS.

Maxton side splitters and rear spats (Im waiting for a Reiger front splitter to arrive before I fit the lot together)
Blue bag is a spare TTS rear diffuser that I’ll be getting my local bodyshop to paint gloss black for me.
RS style honeycomb grill
12/15mm wheel spacers and bolts
VHT Caliper paint in Yellow. (The existing job isn’t up to my standards so I’ll keep them yellow but re-do them)

This turned up today as well:
