Is it just me or has the general driving standards hit rock bottom in the UK since lockdown was lifted.

I can't believe the amount of people sat in outside lanes on motorways doing 65mph when inside lanes are empty.

Saw on m25 today around Junction 27 4 lorries a breast all doing 55mph.. yes a huge artic in lane 4

Van drivers seem to want to either drive at 50 in middle lane or 90 trying to get in your boot.

Also the complete lack of any indicating on round abouts or motorways when changing lane.

Maybe I'm a little old school in trying to be considerate to other road users

It’s really starting to piss me off. Drivers in the main are idiots. Middle-aged women seem to be the worst!

I've noticed i am now starting to drive with slightly less consideration for others now bu undertaking and sloting in gaps which before I deemed too small.

Not an excuse but feel my driving is getting worse down to frustration of others poor use and lack of consideration.

Everyone seems to be on a go slow, and a new phenomenon is oncoming drivers that can’t stay in their own bloody lane.

Middle lane hoggers is worse than ever!

Tipper truck drivers that think they are in a GT3 still remain my pet hate, or Mr cement mixer man, who can’t be arsed to clean the cement off the slides so it drips all over the road in front of you.

Glad it's not just me.

Thought I was just getting more grumpy as the years passed by.. well that might still be true

Just yesterday, I was say behind a girl in a Nissan Juke who didn’t see the lights change to green because she was on her phone. Gave me horn a toot and she moved on.

Only for us to come up to another set of lights about a hundred yards up. Juke girl and myself join a queue of three or four cars. Light changes to green up ahead and nobody moves. A moment passes, still nobody moves. So I give my horn a blast. Everyone starts to move. In the space of 100 yards we have two drivers definitely not paying attention and possibly some others who also didn’t know the light had gone green (at the second lights) or were too timid to tell the driver holding up traffic.

2 hours before that, going the opposite way, a wee old women, peering over the top of her steering wheel, is sitting in the outside lane of a dual carriage way holding up a line of cars, whilst the inside lane is empty. I undertake the lot of them. Can’t be arsed with that carry on.

Driving standards are worse than ever and the sooner all of these dipshits get into self-driving cars, the better it’ll be for the rest of us!

Some people should not hold a driving licence, some of these oldies and I have to say Gurkhas in their 400 quid Rover or Suzuki Altos are quite concerning

4 Lane motorways, due to idiots are now only 2 lanes.

Does give me a whole lane to myself so maybe I shouldn't really complain I guess.

So got stopped on the M25 last night by traffic near Essex. I was doing 65Mph on the inside lane in my L200 truck..

The reason was for undertaking cars in lane 3 and 4 which were all bunched up and only doing about 50.. Lovely policeman (Sarcasm) said I should have moved to lane 4 and waited for people to move over... Well this conversation went on for a while, which I stated that people aren't moving over hence them being bunched up and I had 2 whole lanes all to myself and the flow of traffic was faster in these lanes than the outside 2..

But he wasn't having any of it.. He said I was lucky not to get a fixed penalty notice..

Unless he can evidence you moving from an outer lane to an inner lane prior to passing a driver to your right,he is wrong.

Undertaking is just that. DRIVING WITH THE FLOW IS NOT AN OFFENCE.

That's my understanding too.. He wasn't having any of it. I thought it was now an offence to hog middle, outside lane which he completely disagreed with and actually got a little aggressive that I was challenging his legal knowledge of the roads. Realised it was time to shut up and let him spout on for 15mins that I was a danger to other road users passing on the inside.

That's interesting. So does that mean that if I'm on lane 2 of a dual carriageway and then move to undertake on lane 1, that's an offence but if I'm in lane 1 already as I approach and go past the car next to me in lane 2, then that's ok?

Apparently, yes., within the speed limit posted.

To overtake involves moving out to the right and passing a slower moving vehicle.

In essence, the same applies to an undertake, which is not acceptable.

However, if you are going about your day, it would be more hazardous to move across essentially three lanes and back again.

Not according to Essex traffic police. Apparently moving across 3 lanes and back again is safer..

I'd challenge the cunts, but like a row.

Especially a row I'd win in court.
Haha yes he was, but he let me go- saying he should book me. But probably more like there wasn't a case to answer.

I think he was bored and fancied my girlfriend and wanted to show everyone how big his cocktail sausage was.

I like those the best. Would have got the wife to slide the gusset and flash the one eyed hedgehog at him, just so the dashcam caught him glancing inappropriately and them tell him to summons me to court for the 'undertake'.

Haha that did make me laugh

I know I'm generalising but are traffic officers on a bit of a power trip.. as it really isn't the way to gain respect from the generalising public. I think the respect for them is at an all time low.

I don't know, but in a recent case with my sister, charged with using a mobile phone (she wasn't), it cost me a couple grand (she's skint) to secure the right lawyer and prove a point - they are not always right.

The officer failed to turn up at court, so she was dismissed, as was the case and costs awarded. Unfortunately, the costs awarded were miniscule, but I was happy we made the point.

Concentrate stopping those committing serious crimes and the piles of paperwork created for things like in this thread would free more time to catch the baddies.

I think coppers are stopping most with more than the 'offence' in mind. It just gives them a reason to stop you and maybe reveal more, but, if there's no 'more', let you on your way and don't be a plonker.
