Did this tonight. Took me 20 minutes. Extremely easy on our cars. The wireless charging plate replaces the snap in connector with wireless charging for iPhone X, Samsung etc.

1. Prise up rubber mats at the bottom of the storage box.
2. Firmly pull the entire snap-in mounting stand (the velvety bit) to the rear of the storage box and pull it up
3. Prise up the flat plate at the bottom of the storage box to reveal the wiring connectors and then disconnect them.
4. From the underside of the snap-in assembly prise the tabs at the rear to remove the snap-in connector from the velvet covered mount and replace it with the charging plate.
5. Reassemble in reverse.

Here’s the part number: 84102449887

UPDATE: OPTIONAL STEP
If you'd like to remove the media snap-in from the list of external devices in the iDrive. This can be done by FDL coding using E-Sys. Under HU_NBT go to CDMM_USB and change the value from "all" to "first". This will remove the option without effecting any other functionality via bluetooh or USB such as Apps etc.
