Have you had a damage report yet?

Yes mate, It was a burst braided F1 pump hose, the one suspected, however, its had a full inspection as well and its clutch time as its 85% worn, needs a new compressor because the bearing has excessive play in it, new rocker cover gaskets as they are leaking (knew this and had it penciled in to be done anyway) and ill have the plenum and covers redone as well along with new plugs, few other odds and sods like lowering and new front discs!! In short its going to cost circa £12k !!

What mug would get a Ferrari eh!!

It would have to be an even bigger mug to have two of them and older too.

WTAF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HOLY FUCK!

I know, the clutch in parts alone is £5k!! but once its done that should be it for a a good while and still love the car I don't want to think I am doing all this for the car to be pristine for a new owner!!

Does leave a bitter taste though, its serious money! I was in the specialist's today, and some of the older Ferrari's and most Lambos compared to mine, are just on another level in maintenance costs! for example there was a few 355's having work done, one was now over a £20k in maintenance costs, a Testarrossa having an engine rebuild at £38k, an early Gallardo having new discs and pads at £4.5k!

Keep your BMW's they are certainly better built cars!!

Hmm a bit grim, sorry. Saw you said 488 - would you consider an Italia Spyder - the Vicky B-H Fifth Gear review stays fresh in my mind!

Hey sorry, been busy and a bit quiet on here.

The F430 is mostly done its just waiting for the cam covers and Plenum to come back from being refurbished to OEM (I need to have something done you can see for the outlay) So new Clutch, Flywheel, release bearing, new compressor pump, new rocker cover gaskets, new plugs, new F1 pump hoses and some other things that don't really need doing but is worth while since most of the engine is out such as new seals, gaskets, bolts, engine mounts, gearbox mounts and a couple of ball joints that are showing signs of wear!! everything is being cleaned and polished underneath as well, so the car should look and be like new both top and bottom!

Its bitter sweet really, I miss it and want it back, but I could buy another nice M3 for what its going to cost!

Fairplay to you - Porsche/Ferrari on the bucket list (like no doubt so many other people). Could probably just make the initial outlay, but that is just too much running costs for me:(.

I'll just settle with looking at your pics🤣🤣🤣
(that came out wrong.....or did it!)

I have had all the 911 Turbo's and they are not that bad, M3 / M5 running costs really, the older ones are getting problematic (and fighting corrosion) but 996 onwards are pretty good and reliable things. Ferrari though, my god! The parts are just so damn expensive and there is hardly any pattern parts and none in breakers yards etc!

Just chuck an old Fiat or two on your drive and slowly pick them apart. I’m sure you’ll discover a couple of surprises.

Ha - I've got a list of Fiat parts that are the same on my car to cut costs, they are mostly Lambda sensors, some switches, wiring and relays, but most is bespoke!

Quite a bill but as I'm sure your well aware running a proper supercar is never going to be cheap, but it's a lovely car and you know what you've got and how it's been looked after. Hopefully once it's all done it will give you a few more years of relatively painless ownership.
