Cars popped up fairly local. One owner from new. Full service history, mix of main dealer and specialist. Comes with a main dealer warranty for 13 months. Car is ten years old.

But the mileage is 88k. If the car checks out and everything is sound, would the mileage put you off? Price is about £5k less than similar cars and the average mileage on these for cars I’m viewing is around 20-40k

Mileage is very car dependant, Is it an R8?

Yes. My concern is what happens when trying to move it on. Most other cars tend to be low mileage. Average is about 20-40k but most of them seem to have anything between 3-5 owners.

I would spend £5k more to cut the mileage by over half, yes. You're going to be over 90k in a flash, looking up at 100k. That is not an easy sale.

Fair enough, only 9k pa, but that's a daily for me.

Number of owners is common on a weekend car and I'd prefer that versus high mileage.

hmmm I would not buy a 90k mile R8, unless it’s a keeper that you are going to do hardly any miles in and keep it for many many years, and then it would need to be a bit special and the highest spec. It will be a pig to sell.

As said as well, 5k is not enough reduction for the high miles.

so many people will say....ignore mileage and focus on condition/servicing.

but

it would put me off.

no. of owners puts me off a bit.....but fully accept the turnover on weekend cars/bikes

Did a couple of tests on WBAC. Yes I know it’s not a good way to get realistic pricing but it’s still a decent barometer of the differences between the value of one car over another. Putting the same car in at 20k miles and 80k miles results in a difference of £13k. So I think that tells me what I need to know.

Also when I look at the costs, if I don’t push out for the same model as @Che ill keep second guessing my purchase for only a limited saving so I’m back to looking at V10 Pluses.

Apols for the delay, just back from sunny Croatia! 😊
I looked at quite a few when searching, I wanted low mileage and low owners although I softened slightly after seeing a few in that category which were a bit rough. In the end I came round to the fact that higher than normal car ownership number is more common with these kind of cars and for me mileage and condition were the most important consideration.
You might get a good deal with a high mileage one but you’d have to get it at a price you could move it on easily for imho. I’d speak to Ricky at RE Performance, he looks after many and is often in the know who’s selling and what’s a good car.
I ended up with a full Audi history car so am staying in franchise otherwise I’d take it to him for work/servicing. If you’ve any doubt get a ppi done by Ricky or Audi, they are incredible cars but it’s worth paying more for one without problems as they can land large bills.
