I feel guilty now. Having a black car, between about October to March, it gets a jet wash, foam & rinse. That’s it. Cos regardless, by the time I’ve driven out of my village it’s filthy again.
I've just accepted it. It gets a bit of TLC in the drier months, don’t get me wrong. But I’m not fanatical by any means. I have to try hard to be this way, otherwise I know I’d get hooked on the detailing road.

Having a black car is a life style ... I love black, its the best colour once cleaned and polished, the depth is amazing, but as you say, even sat there for an hour doing nothing its got a grey film of dust on it.

Yes indeed. I distinctly remember saying to myself “I will never have another black car”, after my first one.
And counting up, this is my 6th 🤔🤣

I go through phases of being super OCD, but having three cars to keep clean means it’s just not feasible. Best thing I ever did was get the cars Ceramic coated. Makes washing a doodle, and it tends to stay a bit cleaner. I only bought the Lotus a few weeks back and I really notice how hard it is to clean. One of my jobs over Christmas it to properly detail it.
My other tip for anyone in a hard water area is to get a water filter. Best thing I ever did since moving down South!

Paint protection film for me, rather than ceramic coating. Self healing has already proved its worth with swirl marks being a thing of the past and marks left by bird crap disappearing after a few days.
Liking the water filter, just not the cost to save me five minutes with the chammy...yes, I'm tight.

I’ve got both! Xpel on the front end then GTechniq over the whole lot. The filter means I can still wash the car on a sunny day, otherwise it dries out too quickly, leaving water spots.

Yep, I have to be quick with the chammy mid summer, and that's in the evening. Haven't got the agility or speed for mid-day.

Exactly, getting your head round buying a filter is the only down side, I wouldn’t be without one now, those days where you don’t have time/can’t be arse to dry it properly just a rinse and dries with no water spots

I simply can't justify the expense of a specialist filter. To be fair, our water's pretty good here to start with. But I have toyed with the idea of one of these, do they essentially do the same thing does anyone know?

They do mate, but don’t get the ppm down to zero and won’t last too long rinsing a car the money you spend on refills will out weigh the proper DI vessel. It’s just about one of my favourite car cleaning purchases, makes my life so much easier when I just want to do a quick clean, especially on a sunny day, wash, rinse and go
