I bought my wife a very nice, very clean and low mileage Audi Q5 3 years ago.

It is a 2009 model but had such low miles 38k full Audi service history and looked, smelt and felt like a new car what a winner I thought.. Oh how the car gods have said F you.

This car has been nothing but a pain in my arse in the short time we have had it the following has occured -

AC failure
Rear door lock failure
Car locked my son in the car and I had to put the window through ( I kid you not )
Rubber compression supports split and dead
Interior trim peeling off
Interior strips snapped off

Oh and the gearbox failed the mechatronics unit died - that got fixed under warranty on the 23rd of this month last year, Guess what has just started showing symptoms of failing again.

This is without a doubt the worst car I have owned in my tenure for such a big brand the quality of this thing is woeful at best, I have spent more on servicing and repairs than my V10 I am at a total loss for words with it and very tempted to part ways with it.

****** ************ **********************************

Apologies for Audi lovers I am sure there are good examples out there but this has destroyed my faith and pleasure in the brand.

SIGH

Feel your pain, sometimes you can simply get a Dud though! I have never really had any issues with reliability with the Audi's I have owned, but anything this side of an R8 is a bit of a boring ownership, and I have only ever had the RS models.

That sounds very unlucky. I’ve had a few audis. Never had much in the way of bother with them. They’re just like every other brand to be honest. They all have their fair share of ups and downs.

Sounds very much like a Friday afternoon build completion car.

They do exist, I remember Ford having this problem in the Escort Granada era, where they would leave an unpainted chassis dangling on a Friday afternoon, so rust would set in before it was painted.

Some of the cars after just a couple of years where rotten !
