Had my M6 for about six months. Thought it was a truly lovely piece of machinery but with the lack of motorway miles that I do, it just wasn't the right car for me. Also there's very little room in the in the back of it for my two young kids. Did my usual, bought the car, spent a fortune doing stuff to it and then traded it in for my RS5.

Whilst I had it I put the Vorsteiner style carbon kit on it. new brake disks, had the steering wheel refurbed by Royal Steering Wheels, upgraded the iDrive controller and screen to the later versions and a few other small tweaks.

  • Carbon M Performance style exhaust tips
  • Carbon M Performance style rear diffuser
  • IND Black chrome side vents and rear badge (They look black in pictures)
  • Macht Schnell spacers 12mm front / 10mm rear
  • Wheels refurbed and two-tone powder coated in Ferric Grey and Hyper Silver (very similar to standard just a bit darker in the inside to make the spokes pop a bit more)
  • iDrive controller updated to LCI
  • iDrive screen updated to LCI
  • M Performance kidney grills
  • M Performance pedal kit
  • Full Vorsteiner Style Carbon kit (supplied by M3NTAL

It was lovely. Fit and finish superior to the Fseries I have to say. A fanastic piece of kit for what it actually is. What it isn't is a chuckable sports car. The M5 seems hide it's size much better than the M6 does. It's definitely more of a proper GT car. No room in the back and awesome in a straight line but the most fun I ever had in it was on the motorway trip to Tamworth to trade it in for my RS5. It's definitely more of an S Class Coupe competitor than a proper M car. Most of my journeys are on A and B roads so it just didn't suit. On top of that it was drinking a litre of oil every month and there was some battery issues starting to creep in.

Overall I'd recommend it as stunning piece of machinery but one that needs the right owner to fully enjoy. Sadly I discovered that mine was bought by someone in Northern Ireland after me who wrote it off after losing control and crashing into the Armco on the motorway.

Absolutely magnificent :p before the current M8, this was my ultimate BMW. I really regret not getting one when I had the opportunity:cry:

I was so close to buying the Gran coupe a few years ago. Was totally in love it back then. Seeing yours has made all those feelings come back!!

A lovely example, perfect colour too!.

COVID hit my business revenues so I looked at reducing my monthly outgoings so I could take less money out of the business every monthThe RS5 was costing me £850 a month on a PCP and when I started looking seriously I discovered that trade-in prices were allowing me to walk away with no neggy-eggy. Not bad for being half-way through a 4 year pcp with no deposit.

So I got rid and bought the M4 outright with savings.

In terms of the car. It is one of my favourites. Stuck to the road like glue and you could floor it in any conditions. Did miss the heart-pumping moments of near-death that you get from a rwd M car and for some reason as a brand Audi just do a very bad job of elevating the RS experience from their standard cars. Something that BMW does very well. So you never really feel part of something special the way you do with an M car.

But as a road car (rather than track car) especially with the Coilovers I put on it, I’d say it was pretty much perfect. Fast as buggery, unflappable and useable in all weathers.

But the weird thing is I don’t really miss it.
