We’ve only had a few teasers so far but the full reveal is due on the 22nd. Rumours of anything up to 550bhp and apparently it’ll be limited to 1000 units. So will be get a mass-produced CS as well?

I bet it will be about £130k or more and going on the older CSL it’s best to have no options at all, candles for headlights, Kling film for glass, and paper for boot floor

Just not keen on the current BMW designs. It’s one thing making the M Performance cars different to stand out but I can’t see anyone looking back at these and saying ‘wonderful designs’. The new 7 series is woeful on the outside yet superbly executed on the inside?!

I like the seats....but...the rest you can keep. And that steering wheel just looks FAT

That is not a looker, its nothing like the E46 that just looks so right from every angle, it looks like its just got a load of afterthought bits stuck on and the wheels look to small, looks like an "innit bruv" designed it! However as Grunty said, those are some lovely seats, and I reckon its going to be a weapon, and nice to drive, well it HAS to be !

BMW always make their steering wheels too fat in my opinion. I like the front end but the E46-homage-integrated boot spoiler looks wank.

Also I’ve never really understood the market for these BMWs in the first place. If you want a road car, you don’t want a stripped out 2-seater. If you want a track weapon, there are better options for less money.

That is very true, but I think whats sells them is bragging rights and the fact its the best.

Not a cohesive design from the start and that’s where the problem is. I like some aspects of it but rear 3/4 view is rather lost in the expanse of body work and sometimes see this in 2 door coupe’s.

Kind of has the look of a US Muscle car now... Like a Mustang... and not sure it does anything for me, to be honest...

I would really love BMW M Motorsport to do a TCR customer car from the 1-er and then make an M homologation-a-like version for the street... For me, that would be far more aligned to the spirit off the original M cars than these sorts of things... Yes, I appreciate the current GT3 cars are M4's, but, really, the GT3 race car is not a CSL homologated for the track...

If I had the money, and the privilege to get on the list, I'd have an m5 CS over this.

I think it looks meh!
Definitely agree would rather M5 CS over this. I actually bought a ticket for 1 in Doha airport in their June car raffle. It just looked awesome in the metal i had to take a punt.

I don't mind it as much as most seem to, but like the M5 CS, the changed mechanicals are nowhere near justifying the 40-50k uplift over the Comp, so you're paying for exclusivity. However, I don't think it's clear that you benefit from strong residuals however, looking at what the F82 M4 GTS is going for now. You can pick one up for 80-90k v a 12kk list price, and they only brought 30 or so to the UK.
So this one is going to have to drive even better than the M5 CS to justify it's price.
The biggest issue for me is the loss of back seats- surely that's why you go for a saloon based coupe over a proper sports car - the extra practicality? If you lose that then it's just a bigger heavier car for little benefit.

I'm on the same page as you. It's more GTS than CSL for me. Even withe previous M4 CS, I just don't understand how a mild remap, some styling bits and stripping out parts equates to the price that they're asking for over and above the standard car. It's an exercise in exclusivity at its finest and they're basically charging for a collectible.

I think it needed to be NA, being a Turbo is already on the back foot for throttle response and feel. It’s not a looker, it’s sounds like it’s had a lazy approach to weight loss as well, I could take the back seats and a few other bits out my 320d and it’s going to feel more lively! It’s just missed the mark by quite a bit, but people will buy it because it has the CSL badge!
