WOW - Its a bloody nightmare, depending on who / company you ring, they will tell you different things, quote different power gains, some say you have to map the box or it will explode, some say you don't have to map the box !!

I have rung up 5 different companies now, and got 5 different answers !!

The internet would suggest all these companies have had "off days" should you do some digging, and its hard to decide what to do, have done, and who to go with !!

Its a long shot, but any experiences, especially in the Southeast area ??

Just my view, but a hidden message in those phones calls...

Don't trust anyone or tune your motor..

I had the same years and years ago with an Astra VXR. Never mapped a car since as was a complete ballache and don't trust tuners anymore..

I know what you mean but the lure of 700/1000 is just to tempting.

Just need to know where to go!

Revo and APR are the best in the VAG world.

I have not looked into either of them, I have been in contact with:

MRC
AMD
JF Tuning
JR Tuning (currently booked in, but getting a Dreyfus eye)
AMS tuning

I am going to explore Quantum, Phantom and Unicorn to see what they say.

This used to live in our car park. Commanded huge road / car-park presence.

Do ABT offer a tune?

I’ve just checked and they do… this is where my money would be going if I were in your shoes!

Who’d you go with in the end?
Hi mate I went AMD in the end, very similar set up to MRC. Had the Engine and gearbox done to make the most of the torque, got 703 bhp and 1022nm. That was a safe stage 1 map, no raised limiter. They are quite good and no nonsense, also if I go for an exhaust, downpipes and filter next (which I won't, its fast enough) there will be a small charge to map for stage 2.

I have to say, it's now a different car, it picks up all 4 wheels, and is quite savage, it was not a slow car to start with, and now you do have to watch the front that gets light and scratches around for traction. Its very fast and a proper licence loser, the way it gets up the road is a riot !!

The downside - I have been hooning around in it for the last hour and it is more of a drinker now that's for sure, but driven with care I am sure it will still be good !!

Next is resonator delete for more music !!

Sounds mega. I've decided to knock the whole change of car thing on the head and have decided to get my wheels done in silver instead. Fed up with the totally murdered out look.

Though reading your posts really isn't helping! LOL.

Yes, it's pretty mental now, its a car you can go out hunting with !! Have you drove one?

I think your M4 looks good, but I know what its like to get bored with it and start looking for things to change and do, and its not normally for the best. Part of the enjoyment of owners these cars, is the mods and changes you can make, I love things turning up and then fitting them. But its when you have done all the right things and you have nothing left to do ?

I did not get on with that generation of M car, mainly the drive and the noise, but I did like the looks.

Why don't you map it, they do map well, and the gains for very little money are huge on the S55.

I’m still happy with it to be honest. Not really sure why I’ve been looking at other cars other than the fact I always seem to!

C7 RS6 is just one of those cars that’s always been on my list. I was seriously looking at the C8 before I decided to get out of PCPs entirely. Never actually driven one though

Ive already using Bootmod3. It’s stage one mapped and running around 520bhp (not been dyno’d though) along with CS transmission map and various other tweaks that Bootmod3 allows.

As for the wheels. I’m just kind of bored with the completely blacked out look and fancy a bit of contrast with silver rims. Good thing is that I can always change them back again if I end up not liking it.

I’ve only had the M4 for around a year so I think I’ll stop browsing on Autotrader for a while and just get back to enjoying what I have. Maybe look again for a C7 next year.
